Sustainable architecture means not only efficiency of operation, but also design that passes the test of time, buildings that embraces the practical without sacrificing transcendent style. Centerbrook has shown itself adept at achieving what architectural critic Paul Goldberger terms “a balance between esthetics and energy.” Centerbrook buildings endure because they are both highly functional, technically advanced, and a joy to inhabit.

Highlights of the firm’s sustainable portfolio are four LEED Platinum buildings ⎯ three certified and a fourth pending ⎯ and a Living Building Challenge (LBC) project in design. Centerbrook has 24 sustainability professionals, 23 LEED and one LBC certified. Centerbrook and Hopkins Architects designed Yale University’s Kroon Hall, which was chosen in 2010 as one of the top ten examples of sustainable architecture worldwide by the AIA Committee on the Environment.
