Centerbrook Hired to Design Master Plan for a Lancaster “Campus of History”

CENTERBROOK, Conn. -- The Lancaster County Historical Society and the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, have hired Centerbrook to design a master plan for the creation of a “Campus of History” that will encompass these adjacent properties.

James Buchanan was the 15th President of the United States (1857-1861), preceding Abraham Lincoln. Buchanan bought the estate in 1848 and died there in 1868. The Lancaster County Historical Society, established in 1886, is a premier center for the study of local and regional history in central Pennsylvania.

The “Campus of History” will draw on the strengths and resources of both institutions and allow them to offer their significant historic treasures to the public in a vibrant, revitalized campus.
