Kroon Hall Tour

June 18th, 2010

Mark Simon will give a tour of Kroon Hall’s, the new home for the Yale School of Forestry and Environment and Yale’s “greenest” building, on Friday, June 18 at 3 p.m. Simon was the partner in charge for Centerbrook Architects, which collaborated with Hopkins Architects of London on the project. The building has won more than a dozen awards, including being named Building of the Year by the Architects’ Journal and one of the top ten sustainable buildings in the United States by the American Institute of Architects. Kroon Hall was designed to use 81 percent less water and 58 percent less energy than a comparable baseline structure and to generate 25 percent of its electricity onsite from renewable sources. The 90-minute tour, presented by Yale University Visitor Center, is free. Meet in the plaza in front of Kroon Hall, 195 Prospect St., New Haven.
