Riley to Lead Ocean House Tour

April 29th, 2017

Attendees of the 32nd Annual Rhode Island Statewide Historic Preservation Conference that are fortunate enough to reserve a tour of Ocean House will be in for a treat as the project’s designer, Jefferson B. Riley, will be one of the guides.

Led by Riley, Centerbrook Architects & Planners design meticulously replicated the famed resort that originally opened in 1868. The Historic Preservation Conference tour will include details on how numerous furnishings from the original structure were reused in the new resort that sits on the original footprint overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Ocean House earned five design awards following its completion in 2010. It is annually featured by many of the prominent travel publications as one of the top destination resorts. Overlooking the pristine beaches of Watch Hill, Rhode Island, Ocean House is one of only 11 resorts in the world to receive AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star ratings.

Centerbrook has one other connection to this year’s Historic Preservation Conference agenda. Among the many site locations on the tour schedule is the Klotz House in Westerly. Completed in 1969, this residence was designed by Centerbrook founder Charles Moore.
