Roden to Present at Design Conference

October 10th, 2014

Katie Roden will be presenting an illustrated talk on Evidence Based Design (EBD) at the 2014 Saratoga Design Conference on Friday, October 10 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The annual event is sponsored by the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Roden, who is an Associate Principle with Centerbrook Architects, will explore how the use of targeted data, such as that gathered from post-occupancy building analysis, can inform the design of future projects and improve their performance. Among her examples will be the firm’s own offices, which are used as a “testing laboratory” to evaluate materials, approaches, and energy efficient systems. She also will examine Centerbrook’s approach to academic design, including research into daylighting, use of color, classroom and furniture design, and how these can contribute to student wellbeing and performance.

Roden, AIA and LEED AP, joined Centerbrook in 2008 and has worked on the Health Sciences Center at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, The Temple Tifereth Israel in Ohio, a museum and library for the Lancaster Campus of History in Pennsylvania, and a LEED Silver academic wing for University School in Ohio. She is a member of the Centerbrook Sustainability Steering Committee.
