Simon to Speak at Museum Trustees Forum

November 3rd, 2017

Centerbrook Architects & Planners Principal Mark Simon will be among the presenters at the Museum Trustee Association Fall 2017 Forum in Philadelphia on Nov. 3.

Simon will speak on the lessons learned from Centerbrook’s latest master planning efforts for the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He will be joined in the presentation by David K. Skelly, director of the Peabody Museum.

Simon shared further insight on one of the areas this session will address:

“Too often museums jump to details when planning their additions or improvements. They really need to start at the ground up, confirming their core mission and planning from there. You don’t want to assume yesterday’s goals as givens. Times are changing fast.”

The Museum Trustee Association is an organization dedicated to providing ongoing board education programs, services and resources for the special needs of museum trustees. This year’s Fall Forum will be held at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

Centerbrook’s portfolio features more than 40 museum projects, including five recent concept designs or master plans, the Peabody Museum among them.
