New York Times Previews Seaport Project

New York Times’ reporter Lisa Prevost examined the inspiration and institutional rational behind the new exhibition hall under construction at Mystic Seaport, calling it “unlike anything else on the museum’s 19-acre campus.”

She writes that Centerbrook lead architect Chad Floyd took his cues from the sea rather than the land: “He thought about the spiraled shell of the nautilus, ‘the curvilinear movement of the waves, and sails blown full of wind.’”
