Riley's Character Sketches Exhibited

A collection of more than two dozen sketches titled “Lunch Time Characters” drawn by Centerbrook partner Jeff Riley is now on display in the firm’s Drill Bit Gallery. Quirky and intriguing visages clothed in flamboyant raiment abound in these imaginative portraits of fictitious and clearly eccentric individuals. Jeff sketched them on paper table cloths during the weekly partner/associate luncheon meetings from 1995 to 2005, presumably between courses.

A champagne reception was held last Thursday to christen the new exhibit. Mr. Riley told the gathering that it is the extraordinary diversity of people that inspires him and his partners when they design a building. “Design is people,” he said. “Our buildings should be as varied as the people we build them for. They should each have independent freedom of speech, be it gentle or heretical or silly, to respond to the wide range of human feelings.”
