Centerbrook Associate Principal Katie Roden will lead a seminar on Evidence Based Design (EBD) on May 15 at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Annual Convention in Atlanta. Collaborating with Roden on the presentation will be Rose Mary Su, Senior Consultant in Acoustics at Acentech, and Rebecca Mintz, Lighting Designer at Atelier Ten.

“The goal of presentation is to explore the process of EBD, and how we, as architects, can harness evidence from past projects to produce higher performance designs,” Roden said. “We will engage the group in discussing various approaches, such as post-occupancy evaluations of buildings as well as the latest modeling techniques for energy, acoustic, and lighting that can inform design work. The goal is for participants to learn to use this process, and be able to deliver evidence of their designs’ positive influence to potential clients. Through this process we can all improve our practices, elevate our profession, and our designs.”

The program runs from 2 to 3 p.m. and participants earn one AIA learning unit credit.

LEED BD+C accredited, Roden is a member of the Centerbrook Sustainability Committee and is establishing the criteria to meet the firm’s commitment AIA 2030 Commitment, whose mission is to advance the goal making all buildings carbon neutral within the next 15 years.
