Field House

Centerbrook designed a new 45,000-square-foot athletic field house at Bryant University. Its three stories house many services and amenities for student athletes and their fans.

The new structure is nestled between soccer and football fields. On game day, fans gather on an events plaza for tickets overlooked by a green roof that filters rainwater. Inside, the Bulldog’s proud gridiron traditions are celebrated by a glassy display case and branded graphics to generate excitement and intensity. Video displays, lounge seating, physical therapy areas, and fully outfitted locker rooms offer best-in-class player amenities. The second-floor club level has clear sightlines to the football field through a dramatic window wall and the viewing terrace and bleachers beyond. Its third floor houses a press box and viewing areas for coaches and officials.

The field house, slated for completion in August 2025, is projected to use 31% less energy than a baseline building. It employs advanced sustainable strategies to conserve energy and water and reduce its carbon footprint, including:

  • efficient mechanical and building envelope systems
  • LED lighting with occupant sensors
  • high efficiency boilers
  • low flow plumbing fixtures
  • site design that reduces impervious surfaces and manages stormwater runoff
  • artificial turf playing surface that requires no irrigation, mowing, or fertilizer
  • green roof that filters rainwater.
