Centerbrook is designing a Welcome Center at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania for alumni and visitors, as well to house offices for development and communications. The new glass-facade building will connect with the former Head of School residence, which will be renovated and expanded to provide guest apartments upstairs for visiting alumni as well as a large conference room and a resource room on the first floor, and other visitor amenities.

Set atop a stone plinth, near the formal entrance to the academy, the new 7,000-square-foot building will feature a green roof and serve as a transparent beacon to those entering the campus, while also connecting development and communications staff with the surrounding grounds.

Centerbrook also is designing a new residence for the Head of School and a Student Center at Mercersburg. Founded in 1893 and set on 300 rolling acres, the academy is a prestigious coed high school with 430 boarding and day students. It counts among its notable alumni seven Rhodes scholars, four recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, one Nobel laureate, and actor Jimmy Stewart.
