Julia Joslyn
Julia joined Centerbrook in January 2026 after a previous stint as an intern. She grew up in nearby East Haddam where she kindled an interest in drawing and painting that eventually led to architecture. Julia earned her Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees from Roger Williams University, where she focused on urban design and grew to appreciate how thoughtful planning can shape community life.
A semester abroad in Florence deepened Julia’s appreciation for historic urban fabrics, walkable cities, and how architecture and public space are intertwined. Living in an apartment just steps from the Duomo, she experienced the city’s rhythms and observed how centuries-old architecture shaped everyday life. Travels across Italy, including a visit to the Amalfi Coast, expanded her perspective and sharpened her sensitivity to context, scale, and the experiential qualities of place. Her graduate thesis proposed a New Jersey Devils Community Iceplex, combining her passion for ice hockey with a belief that the facility could, like Boston’s TD Garden, serve as a civic anchor. The project explored how sport and public programming could strengthen Newark’s neighborhoods by creating welcoming community gathering places.
Julia is energized by Centerbrook’s work in athletics and community-focused design, and values opportunities to create environments that bring people together. Outside the office, Julia enjoys shopping, traveling, and spending time with her parents, younger sister Meigan, and their dogs, Waylon (Jennings) and Anakin (Skywalker). A zealous hockey fan with deep family ties to the sport, she also embraces a pescatarian lifestyle, especially seafood pasta, and brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to her work.
