The Karsh Alumni & Visitors Center opened in late August at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Serving as the new front door to the esteemed institution, the Karsh Center (pictured at top) includes three new buildings – highlighted by an events pavilion – and a historic renovation. A grand opening celebration will take place on Sept. 28.

Also in North Carolina, the renovated Dowd Student Center has opened at Charlotte Country Day School. The second phase in a multi-year campus transformation outlined in our master plan, the Dowd Center features new dining areas, a kitchen, and a campus store. Next door to Dowd, Cannon Hall was also renovated in this phase of work. New spaces there include academic support, college counseling offices, a maker and collaboration space, and IT services.

The first phase of the Hubert Campus Center renovation project is already in use at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. The second floor dining facility was enlivened with exterior entry improvements, new flooring, ceilings, lighting and a fresh coat of paint. The major work is still in progress as the entire first floor is being completely renovated and reconfigured.

Looking ahead to the spring 2020 school semester, another round of projects are anticipated to open.

McGovern Hall, a dining facility, is currently undergoing a transformation on the campus of the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut. This modernization will produce a new market style servery, dining and lounge areas. A temporary facility was erected for student dining this fall.

The previously mentioned Albertus Magnus first floor renovation is expected to wrap up in mid-January. Returning students will find a new pub, lounge, game room, study spaces, community gathering areas, and a fitness center. A new second floor rooftop terrace will also be in place for students to enjoy once the weather breaks next spring.

An interior update to the Rocky Top Student Center is in the works for longtime client Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. A new bar and lounge area is being constructed in the main level of the student center, the hub of Quinnipiac’s York Hill campus.
