Centerbrook Elevates Andrews, Tolis

CENTERBROOK, Conn. -- Centerbrook Architects has promoted Todd E. Andrews to Senior Associate and Theodore C. Tolis to Associate in the firm.

Most recently, he has served as the Project Manager for a number of new buildings and laboratories, as well as renovations, at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, including its recently opened Hillside Campus.

“An architect needs multiple talents to create enduring buildings and during the past 15 years Todd has developed and honed these skills working with partner emeritus Bill Grover and myself at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory,” said Centerbrook partner Jim Childress, FAIA. “Todd is one of our bright young stars and we are proud of his many contributions.”

A graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelors of Architecture, Andrews has contributed to projects that have won nine design awards. He also is Chairman of the Continuing Education Committee at Centerbrook.

Andrews lives in Deep River with his wife, Nelle, and their children, Molly and Spencer, and their chocolate lab Marley.

He has worked on a number of cultural, academic, and laboratory buildings at Yale University, The Florence Griswold House Museum, Colgate University, Pomfret School, Norton Museum of Art, Quinnipiac University, and elsewhere.

Tolis is currently working on the new LEED-slated Science and Math Center at Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts. He recently served as Job Captain for Centerbrook on the highly acclaimed Kroon Hall, the new Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies building. Centerbrook, Executive Architect on the project, collaborated with Hopkins Architects of London, the Design Architect. Kroon has won 15 awards, including “Building of the Year” by the Architects’ Journal. The American Institute of Architects and its Committee on the Environment Award named it one of the top ten sustainable buildings in the United States.

“Ted is not only a thorough and dedicated professional, he is an inventive and compelling designer who increases the value of all his projects,” said Centerbrook Partner Mark Simon, FAIA.
