Centerbrook in Books

CENTERBROOK, Conn. – Three Centerbrook clients – Yale University, the Florence Griswold Museum, and the Addison Gallery of American Art – are featured in recently published books, one on art museums and the other on green buildings worldwide.

"The World’s Greenest Buildings" devotes three pages to Kroon Hall, the new home to the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the flagship of the university’s commitment to being a sustainable campus. Centerbrook as Executive Architect collaborated with the Design Architects, Hopkins Architects of London on the project, which has won numerous design awards and has been published worldwide in architecture magazines, websites, and in several other books.

"A Love for the Beautiful: Discovering America’s Hidden Museums" prominently features the Florence Griswold Museum and the Addison Gallery of American Art, institutions that Centerbrook has designed substantial additions for in recent years. The firm’s three-story expansion of the Addison adds a new Learning Center as well as a progressive presence to the venerable Addison building, which is on the campus of Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts.

The Florence Griswold Museum project entailed adding a new 9,500-square-foot art gallery building to an existing house on the grounds of the museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Florence Griswold’s boarding house was the storied home of the Lyme Art Colony and one of the principal locales for Impressionism in America.
