Centerbrook LEED Portfolio Reaches 21

CENTERBROOK, Conn. – Centerbrook has worked on 21 LEED registered projects, as well as an additional 35 sustainable buildings that encompass a wide range of energy conservation approaches or renewable systems. Six are LEED certified projects, highlighted by Yale’s Platinum-rated Kroon Hall (with Hopkins Architects of London). Home to the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, it opened in 2009 and has received more than a dozen awards for both its aesthetic and “green” design. Five projects have been submitted for certification at various levels, and 10 others are under construction or in design.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a sustainable building rating system developed in 1998 by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that seeks to reduce the impacts buildings have on the environment by promoting innovation in design and construction practices.

Centerbrook actively promotes sustainable design, offering clients a check list of more than 100 ways to foster conservation or generate renewable energy. The firm has 21 LEED accredited professionals (LEED APs) on staff, and is a member of the USGBC. The most recent LEED project is a science building currently in design for the Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School, slated for a Platinum certification.
