Centerbrook Projects Earn Statewide Acclaim

Four Centerbrook projects received accolades this month from the Connecticut Chapter of the American Institute of Architects as part of its annual Design Awards program:

  • The renovation and expansion of the Yale Peabody Museum, the famed natural history museum in New Haven.
  • Chapel Hall, a renovated events space located at the historic Central Congregational Church in Providence.
  • The Whittingham Discovery Center, a new learning and development center in Stamford’s Mill River Park.
  • The renovated Demerec Laboratory, the beloved home of four Nobel Laureates at Long Island’s Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

The Design Awards program recognizes built and unbuilt projects in Connecticut or in other locations by Connecticut-based firms. Its jury of three architects from outside Connecticut considered how the buildings fulfill defining principles of design excellence such as equity, conservation, wellbeing, resiliency, and integration.

Over Centerbrook’s five decades, its work and architects have garnered 94 awards from the Connecticut AIA.
