City House

This former carriage house of an old estate was renovated and expanded for a mother and her four children. The front door was revised to be more inviting while providing security in an urban location. The addition extends into a backyard that is shared by a small neighborhood of six houses. The addition bends to create a protected outdoor seating area for the family that overlooks the common yard. The addition provides a ‘great’ common room on the lower floor with the bent shape creating a subtle separation between the kitchen and sitting area. The dining table twists at the juncture between them.
