David & Fanny Luke Building

Originally constructed in 1913, the David and Fanny Luke Building was renovated to house Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory's development, human resources, and communications offices. The project preserved the building's historic character while adapting it to support the Laboratory's growing administrative needs.

New dormers and an expanded roof monitor brought daylight into the upper floor, while the adjacent carpentry and paint sheds were converted into offices for the communications department. A new serpentine wall along the waterfront protects the building from tidal flooding while reinforcing its relationship to the Laboratory campus.
