Jahn Ice Rink

Centerbrook has completed two campus master plans and six buildings at Pomfret School, a 360-student private boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12. Pomfret is located in Connecticut’s idyllic “Quiet Corner.”

In 1998, we prepared a feasibility study to replace Pomfret’s Brown Rink with a 38,000-square-foot new building with seating for 300 and room for future expansion. Rather than build anew, the school decided to improve the existing rink, which originally opened in 1964. It was renovated in 2005 and renamed Jahn Ice Rink.

In 2020, Centerbrook was retained to expand the facility. The design provides new boys and girls varsity and junior varsity locker rooms, locker rooms for coaches, and replaces the chiller plant and installation of a new dehumidification plant and associated ductwork. The project also analyzed and repaired the building envelope, and designed air dispersion and lighting upgrades.
